Hi everyone,
Due to the social distancing protocol implemented by the Province, we will be out of school for an additional two weeks. With that comes two weeks of missed rehearsal opportunity and time spent learning the music hands on with students. Because of that, and because of the uncertainty of Covid-19, I have made the tough decision to cancel our Spring Musical. Making music with your student is my top priority and will still happen on a daily basis in the music room for the remainder of the school year. Be well, Miss Woods xx

Last week the Grades 2/3 - 5 students participated in the arts festival in the community.
Each classroom sang 2 songs; some in a class with others and some on their own. Our grade 2/3 students brought home the Primary Chorus Shield and the grade 4/5 class brought home the Junior Chorus Shield. Both of these awards are great honors! Our adjudicator was Millie Hildebrandt who is based out of Winnipeg and who is a lovely human. Her main focus was the storytelling aspect of children's singing, which, lucky enough, happened to be the focus of our last term. Many times our students practice in the bathroom mirrors in our school so that they can practice expressing themselves visually, not just vocally. Next week we will be working hard on some recorders and beginning our Spring Musical. |
