About Me
My name is Rylee Woods and I grew up in the small(ish) town of Stonewall, Manitoba. This has always been home and was where my love and passion for music learning, playing, and teaching was first cultivated. As a child, I sang in festival, at church, and pretty much all day long (to the dismay of my teachers). I attended Stonewall Collegiate and was inspired greatly by my choral director there to turn my hobby into a career.
I was accepted into the Brandon University School of Music as a singer, but eventually focussed my career to be a choral major, and then some primary school music. I began my studies in 2009 and graduated with a degree in Music Education (5-year) with a double major in English Literature. I acquired a teaching job right out of the gate and now teach in Boissevain, Manitoba in a K-12 school. My days are jam packed with both primary music and upper years English classes. Although I feel like I walk up and down sets of stairs more than the average person, I wouldn't change my job if I had the chance.
In my "spare" time I work for an agency that provides support for adults with disabilities, hang out with my dog at the dog park, visit my friends and family, and make music with Konektis. I love to read and binge watch Netflix shows. And I can typically be caught in obscure coffee shops researching and prepping for things months in advance.
If you're reading this, I hope you enjoy this little insight into my classes and days. And if you're a parent; thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for trusting me with your child and for sending your little bundles of light my way every day!
Cheers,
Rylee
